Oud Giethoorn and Old Giethoorn

Oud Giethoorn represents the original character of the village. Peace, space and life shaped by the water.

The Old Giethoorn initiative is a collaboration of local entrepreneurs in Giethoorn North and Giethoorn Middle, inspired by that same idea.

Together they invite visitors to experience Giethoorn as it was meant to be.

What do we mean by Oud Giethoorn?

Oud Giethoorn does not refer to a separate place, but to the feeling of the original village.

A Giethoorn with quiet canals, thatched farmhouses and personal hospitality.

Less mass tourism and more attention to nature, culture and tranquillity.

This character can mainly be found in Giethoorn North and Giethoorn Middle.

These areas form the foundation of the story this collaboration wants to share.

What is Old Giethoorn?

They work together to better inform visitors, combine activities and spread visitor flows.

The focus is on quality, experience and sustainability.

Within this collaboration, businesses from different sectors are involved.

These include boat rental companies, hospitality, museums and accommodation providers.

Together they create a complete and relaxed day or multi-day experience in Giethoorn.
